1. Re-read your article and, in your groups, complete the summary grid. I need ONE GRID per group.  This is to be handed in or emailed to me by 17/10/12.

2. Write a 500 word response to ONE of the following questions:

a) What are the messages and values communicated by the director in Lilya 4-ever?

OR

b) How important is mise-en-scene and sound in communicating the messages and values of the director in Lilya 4-ever?

Remember to make reference to the following in your answer to either question:

• context of time and place
• representation of the City & the urban environment
• representation of characters
• themes of power, poverty and conflict
• narrative structure and devices
• stylistic features / technical codes

As you watch the trailer for the film make a note of:

1) the common conventions of mise-en-scene, camera, editing and sound that we might expect to see in an urban story film based upon our previous analysis of films and clips
2) the way in which the Urban Environment is represented - does it appear to be friendly and inviting or cold and isolating?
3) the 'journey' we might expect to see the characters go through in the film
4) any thematic issues around power, poverty and conflict that you think the film may explore
